How Long have you been a CrossFit Owner/Coach
6 years now, We started in our 200 square foot garage and built up to our now 5k plus square foot building.
How has CrossFit changed your life?
In every way. It has made me a stronger, healthier person. It has pushed me to do things I never thought I could. It has made me change the way I see the human body and what beauty is. It has helped me to push through hard times in my life that before may have been too much. I know it seems cheesy but the mental side of what CrossFit does far outweighs the physical side of it. If you can Believe it, You can Achieve it!
What inspired you to become a coach?
I actually never saw myself as a coach, I just always loved to encourage others. Once my husband and I opened our own CrossFit I had to get certified and then found out I loved it. People always think that Chris would be the tougher trainer, but it’s actually me. LOL
What has been your best coaching experience?
I love seeing people finally get something they have been trying to do for a while, whether it be a gymnastics movement, or a PR on a lift. People are stronger than they think they are and I love seeing the hard work pay off. The look on someone’s face after they achieve their goal is priceless.
If you could give someone new to CF some advice what would it be?
Don’t give up, give it all you got. It’s a journey and it takes more than a few weeks to really start seeing results. Everyone has to start somewhere and everyone goes through the same journey. We don’t all start out being amazing so don’t be too hard on yourself. All you have to do is show up and give it your all, we got the rest!
If “you” were a WOD (ie “Danielle”) what would it be?
A long chipper with all my favorite movements: running, OHS, HSPU, Pull Ups, Dips, DL, Back Extensions, Rope Climbs, A muscle up or two, Cleans, Dips, KBS…sounds like fun already!
What is your biggest goal and what are you doing about it?
There are so many, how to narrow it down. My main goal is trying to get stronger, so obviously I have been lifting a lot. But Muscle Ups are what I think about the most. They are very inconsistent. Sometimes I rock at them and sometimes not so much. So I’m constantly trying to work on them, ultimately I think I need to go see a gymnastics coach.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Sushi or Fondue…or a yummy breakfast!
What is your favorite movement?
Pullups, I’ve always loved them. Outside of CrossFit most girls cannot do Pull ups. I think it’s a huge accomplishment to get those.
What is your favorite outfit to WOD in?
Shorts, tank…or muscle T (I’m into those right now) matching sports bra and always a LuLu Lemon headband! The headband is a must!! And not to be snobby but LuLu has the best one that stays. Only the big wide one.
