Meet Your Coach: Dave Estrada

What do beef jerky, dog grooming and snowboarding have in common?  Coach Dave Estrada!

Whether you're new to CrossFit Awaken or been a member for years, there's a good chance there are some things you don't know about our great coaching staff.   This week, we sat down with Coach Dave, who you will see teaching many of our morning classes, so that you could learn a bit more about this awesome member of Awaken.

CFA: How did you first come to CrossFit Awaken?

Coach Dave: I was lucky enough to have Chris & Danielle live next door to me, back around 2013.

CFA: What do you LOVE about coaching?

Coach Dave: I love helping athletes achieve their goals and getting them to do things they never thought they could!

CFA: What other things do you do for fitness?

Coach Dave: Hiking, biking, dirt biking, fishing, snowboarding, and actually pretty much anything outdoors.

CFA: When not CrossFitting, what do you like to do for fun?

Coach Dave: Spending time with my family. (Who you will see here at the gym frequently as well!)

CFA: What do you do for work away from coaching?

Coach Dave: Professional Pet Stylist (Check out his business profile for Dogs Gone Stylin' here!)

CFA: Tell us something that most people don't know about you.

Coach Dave: I make the best beef jerky and love cooking.

CFA: If you had a million dollars, what would you do with it?

Coach Dave: I would love to move to Alaska on a huge property!

CFA: What has teaching others taught YOU?

Coach Dave: That there are so many ways to get from point A to Point B, so the more techniques I learn the better teacher I can become.

CFA: What do you do to challenge yourself in the gym?

Coach Dave: I set my goals high but achievable. And despite my size I never let a number get the best of me, I might say it’s to heavy but it doesn’t stop me from trying my best and giving it all I got.

CFA: What is/are something(s) still difficult for you to do in CrossFit?

Coach Dave: Handstand walking obstacles.
